If I could drink from the river I would choose the age of 24 because it is one of my favourite numbers. I would choose the age of 24 because I would still be able to drive a car and probably be through university and I would probably have a wife and maybe some kids. It would be cool you cant die by being hurt and by age. And that is why I would drink from the river at the age of 24.
In my opinion myths from ancient civilizations and legends from First Nations Peoples were important because they were part of the people’s beliefs and religion. We learned in class about the myth, The Golden Touch. It was about how a greedy king asked for powers to turn anything he touched into gold. Soon he discovered that the golden touch wasn’t what he thought it would be so he asked the God who gave it to him to take it away. The God told the king that he needed to wash himself in the Nile River, if he wanted the powers to go away. The king followed the directions and was glad that the curse was gone. From then on, people thought that the sparkles of gold in the Nile River were from the greedy king’s curse.
From my experience, sometimes Iwant something and then after I get it its not what I was expecting . So I can see how The Golden Touch applies. I’ve often heard the saying, careful what you wish for. Maybe it came from the myth, The Golden Touch.
In summary, myths and legends were a way for people to share their values and experiences with one another. Some of these stories are still told today.
