dirtListen as John tells us about Dirt Bike Racer by Matt Christopher and as he reads his favourite passage.

When Ron Baker, an eleven year old boy, finds a dirt bike at the bottom of Pumpkin Head Lake while scuba diving, he can’t believe his luck! But the bike needs fixing and that takes money that he doesn’t have. So, he gets a job doing yard work. When he finally fixes his dirt bike, he then has to worry about a series of bike stripping thefts. Could his dirt bike be the next on the list of the bike strippers? Will he ever be able to fulfill his dream of racing?

may18 003One of the D tomato planters is growing quite fast compared to the M planters and the other D planter. There are 9 about one centimeter tomatato sprouts in one of the D planters. Theres no big sprouts in the M planters or the other D planter.  I think the the D planter is the untreated normal environment tomato  becuase they’re growing faster than the M planter and the D planter is exposed if it is the normaly treated planter to it’s naturel enviroment.

We had a terrific bag book report from John today. He brought in information that related to the story “The Screech Owls’ Northern Adventure by Roy MacGregor. Not only did we learn about the story and a bit about how Nish got himself into some real trouble in the north, but we also learned about bannock and the importance of skidoos in northern communities. John has given us an example of careful and detailed work.

In your agenda:

  • tomorrow is Tropical Day…come dressed for the south (in a northern warm way)
  • we have phys ed tomorrow
  • book reports are due on February 4th
  • milk bags are still being collected
  • boy’s volleyball practice is tomorrow at 2:15

I know that some of you are fretting about the math homework question. Don’t worry…you will have the opportunity to work with your classmates on a similar problem tomorrow…something to look forward to.
