Grade 5 South March Public School, Kanata, Ontario
We are part of a Worldwide Blog Challenge. Today you are going to visit some blogs by different students in different schools in different parts of the world. Look at what they are doing.
Here’s Ms. Wyatt’s latest Blog Challenge:
“Visit at least 5 blogs from the participant list and leave appropriate comments. Keep a record of what you said…”
Are you up for the challenge? Here’s what to do:
1. Here are six blogs I’d like my class to try and make connections with:
…or any of the blogs listed on the right sidebar…
2. Click on a blog that looks interesting. Read through it and find a post to comment on.
3. Make sure your comment adds to the conversation. You might decide to give more information about the topic, give, or ask a question. It’s helpful for the author of the blog to know where in the world you are from. So sign it something like this: Joe, Ottawa, Canada www.mrssmith.ca
4. Leave a comment on this post and tell us which sites you visited.
5. You don’t have to do all five blogs but that’s a good goal to shoot for!

Dear Mrs. Smith’s Class,
Thanks so much for listing our blog as a possible place to explore! We have many stories that we have published, but the “Kodiak Grizzly Bear Facts” post in June has been our most popular one. You can see it in our June archive in the sidebar.
I will tell my class to take a look at your blog as well. We are a third grade class in California.
Your friends,
Mrs. Yollis’ Class

Hi Mrs Smith’s class,
I followed Nick’s link back to your blog. Well done and thanks Nick for visiting our blog. We are just about to send a travel buddy (Vegemite – our wombat)to New York. Where in Canada are you? We are in South Australia. Hope to hear back from you soon. We are on two weeks holiday from today, but we will look at the next challenge soon! Great blog!

Dear Mrs. Smith’s class,
Thanks to Stefan, Abeer, Victoria, Ryan, Kate, and Vishal for commenting on our class blog. Students from Huzzah! will pop by this week to see what you are up to.
Well, I have to say I am quite curious. If you ask my students they will tell you that I am 6′3″ tall, and very youthful. I play basketball and am good friends with Albert Einstein. So, if Mrs. Smith and I were to stand side by side, how could you tell us apart?
Tell us! Inquiring minds want to know!
Ms. Smith (the tall, youthful teacher from the West Coast)

Good Morning Mrs. Smith’s class,
We are so excited to be listed on your blog! We are a fifth-grade class from Alpharetta, GA. I would love to know how you all are using your blogs! Our class is just getting up and going with the blogging challenge and I will be sending my students out next week to look at different blogs. What is your favorite part of blogging and what do you find most difficult?
Have a GREAT Friday!
Mrs. Daugherty

Hello Mrs Daugherty
In our langugage arts class today we tried to come up with some answers to your questions. Here is what some of my students had to say (normally they would do the typing on their own accounts but today I am typing for them.)
Morgan: My favourite part is visiting blogs and the most difficult part is capital letters, no capital letters, capital letters…
Tyler: The hardest thing is replying to messages. The best thing is reading messages.
Ibrahim, Ryan and Nicholas: We think the hardest thing about blogging is to make posts and comments with correct spelling. The best thing about blogging is we can write about our past life and pretty much anything.
Marlene, Justin B and Kate: The thing that we all like most about blogging is playing games and writing to other people in other countries. The thing that is the most difficult is trusting people on the internet.
Victoria, Abeer: What we like is that you can type to people all around the world about their work. The hardest thing is to correct your work.
Adrian: I like to write comments to other blogs. The hardest part is checking the spelling.
Ilan: I like writing posts and getting comments and I find checking the spelling the most difficult.
Mitchell: I think that the hardest parts is comming up with comments unless the question is very precise. My favourite part about blogging is that you can find some cool stuff on the blogs.
Madison: I think the hardest thing about blogging is trying to think of something to write about. The best part about blogging is that you get to tell people about their work and what they did well.
