I am having a hard time believing that tomorrow will be the first day of school. It will also be the first day of school for our brand new South March Public School. Tomorrow everything at South March will be a first, even just having students in the building. My classroom is all set up, well okay, there are a few things that need to be done and a few items missing but we are ready to go. Our custodian has been working really hard to get everything sparkling and bright. I think that the students will be very proud of the new building.

Even though I have been teaching for a few years, I still get butterflies in my stomach as the first day arrives. There is something really special about that day. It is an opportunity to meet new students and friends and to connect with people who we haven’t seen over the summer. It is time to test out those school supplies and try one those new school shoes or clothes. I haven’t packed a lunch all summer. Maybe tomorrow I will put a little something special in mine as a first day treat.

Summer has been great but I am getting excited about starting a new year. I look forward to meeting the people in my new school community and I look forward to hearing news about the students and staff at A. Lorne Cassidy, my former school community. Happy New Year!

I am getting excited about beginning a new school year in a NEW SCHOOL! South March Public School will open its doors to students for the first time ever on September 1st. I have spent some time in the building and it is looking great. There are a lot of people working hard to get things ready for the first day of school.
